Think about the content on your website. No doubt you have graphics designed to draw the eye and tools meant to help visitors fill a need. Surely you have room for advertisers. But what if your carefully designed site has poor copy? Visitors would arrive at your site and leave as quickly as they came, never to return. For 99% of websites, it’s about attracting and keeping eyes on your website. That’s why you cannot afford to do without engaging, compelling articles and blog entries that keep eyes on the page, and keeps them coming back for more.
SEO and Writing for the Web
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) used to mean cramming copy full of keywords. But when website owners realized this method only led to high bounce rates, they started to look closer at the copy. They found that better copy resulted in more traffic. Well-written content, with helpful information, presented in a friendly and straightforward voice, keeps eyes on the page, something advertisers love.
These days, articles and blog posts must be written for the content and then sprinkled lightly with the appropriate keywords only after the piece is able to stand by itself as an informative and helpful piece. SEO today means including keywords at a rate of no more than 1% or 2%. So for every 100 words in your content, you need your keyword mentioned once or twice. This is how you ensure you are attracting search engine traffic, with better chances of repeat visits.
That’s my philosophy when writing for the Web. Read some of the samples below the contact form to get a feel for my voice and style. If you like what you read, request a quote today!
